Study Holidays: Activities and Excursions
Our standard Study Holiday courses include full day excursions to London and Cambridge and half day visits to places of interest in Norfolk. In Norwich itself, students enjoy varied afternoon activities including sport (swimming, cricket, football, rounders, etc) and visits to historic and cultural attractions such as The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at the University of East Anglia and local museums. There are fun activities too, such as ten pin bowling, laser games and treasure hunts. Visits to the cinema are encouraged and there is usually a private student disco one evening each week. See the sample programme. We try to create a varied and interesting programme to reflect the interests and age profile of the group and all activities are accompanied by our staff who encourage the use of English at every opportunity.
London
Our standard two week Study Holiday course includes a full day trip to London. Students travel to the capital by coach accompanied by experienced English Experience staff who act as guides throughout the day. The trip includes a boat trip on the River Thames from Westminster Pier to the Tower of London followed by a packed lunch in St James's Park. This is followed by a walking tour of the main tourist sites: Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, etc. There is free time in Covent Garden or Piccadilly Circus or a visit to a museum or gallery before returning to Norwich.Cambridge
The standard course also includes a full day trip to the university city of Cambridge. Students travel to Cambridge by coach accompanied by experienced English Experience staff who act as guides throughout the day. Cambridge is world famous as the home of one of the two oldest English universities. The day includes punting on the River Cam, one of the most popular ways to view the colleges and the interesting bridges along the river, and a walking tour past some of the famous colleges.Sandringham
The English Experience also offers a half day excursion to Sandringham the much-loved Norfolk country home of Her Majesty the Queen. The Queen and other members of the Royal Family regularly spend Christmas here and make it their official base until February. Set in 60 acres of gardens which have been called "the finest of the Royal gardens", the house contains collections of porcelain, jade, furniture and family portraits. Students can view the principal ground floor apartments and visit the fascinating museum of Royal vehicles and mementoes as well as enjoying the park and gardens. Sandringham is about 40 miles north-west of Norwich and students travel there by coach accompanied by English Experience staff.
